While I was the Associate Director of the Oklahoma Memorial Union, I managed all promotions and marketing and was a one-man-band creative department. It could be a little stressful, but I had a great time and was able to work on a lot of projects and had a lot of creative freedom.

A big part of that work was a big rebrand. I worked with Finch Creative to develop flat-style logo of the union and then I worked on several new publications and promo pieces.

I've always loved photography and have lately been trying to learn and practice more. Some friends and I visited a very cool abandoned site in Oklahoma in December and spent  a few hours just exploring and taking photos. It was an amazing location and we shot some great stuff. Admittedly, I got a little heavy handed on some in the editing process. 

A friend of mine has a running joke for a fake restaurant called Dunkerz. It’s sort of TGI Friday’s meets Buffalo Wild Wings concept and the menu is dedicated to overly seasoned foods that you dunk in a variety of sauces (e.g. the Fiery Doritos Blasted Shrimp Poppers with the Sweet Honey, Lime Ranch Dunk Pot).

For my friends birthday, I developed some branding for Dunkerz and had some shirts printed. Even though it was for a fake client, it turned out to be some work of which I am very proud.

There are several spaces in the Oklahoma Memorial Union that are at the core of the student experience at The University of Oklahoma. These are areas that students spend time in on a daily or weekly basis. However, many time students don't know the names or significance of these spaces. A series of t-shirts were created to highlight some of these spaces. The shirt front features the primary design and the back features a brief hisroty of the space. Retro elements and typography were used to add a little historicity to the designs as well as small details like the recreation of a hand-painted art deco border from Meacham Auditoreium. 

This was a personal design  challenge I set for myself during October of 2016: 31 Days of Monsters and Villains. Each day I would recreate a famous monster from film, literature or pop culture and post it on Instagram. On many of the images, I wanted a very 2D almost paper cut out sort of look. I also used gradients with different blend modes a lot to get an airbrushed effect. 

These posters were for the Union Programming Board's "Blood, Love, Chocolate" events. The event was a Valentine's Day event that paired free screenings of the Twilight movies and a chocolate festival. I had a lot of fun creating these posters over the years. This is another project where I got to hand draw the primary elements. The movies themselves are so overly dramatic and I wanted to incorporate that in sort of an irreverent way in the artwork. I also really love the simple combination of red and brown. You might not think those colors go together but imagine a heart-shaped box of chocolates. 

This was some branding work I did for a nurse anesthetist working in the Miami area. They wanted something very modern and polished that would appeal to their clientele.

As I started working on these new illustrations of couples and friends as pop culture icons, I has the idea to make my friends in to paper dolls with interchangeable clothing and accessories based on their personalities. It's been a lot of fun making them and they're great gifts. 

I couldn’t skate to save my life, but several of my friends are avid skaters and I’ve recently taken to tagging along and taking some pics. It’s a fun sport to photograph and I love the positive and judgement free atmosphere of skate culture. As carefree as a skater’s attitude can be, they’re dedicated and will spend hours sweating, falling and straining to land a trick.

T-Shirts might be my favorite kind of project. They generally offer a lot of room for playfulness. I also enjoy how the limitations of inks and cost force you to think hard about contrast and color selection. Here are few of my favorites.

These were very large wall murals I was asked to create for the renovation of the Henderson Tolson Cultural Center at The University of Oklahoma. The building is an important hub of African American Student Life on the campus and an homage to two prolific educators and civil rights leaders. 

These are a handful of illustrations where I have turned my friends into film, comic or other pop culture icons.

The College of Arts & Sciences is the largest college at The University of Oklahoma and they always have some project and new initiative in the works. One of the most recent was a redesign of their logo. They had already decided on an atom-like design for the artwork and had created a tagline of "One College, Infinite Possibilities." I created this concept that had two primary outer rings to represent the fields of the arts and sciences. The orbiting four dots represent the four focus areas within the college. 

I was selected to be a Camp Crimson Namesake in 2014. As a giveaway for the new freshmen in my group, I created this Norman Field Guide with some fun top 10 lists and helpful hints. I don't know if they ended up using it, but i had fun making it. 

I used this template again to make a fun travel brochure for one of Oklahoma's State Parks. This was used as an example piece for the digital design class I teach in the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication at The University of Oklahoma. The lesson dealt with small publications and the use of info graphics.  

These were a few example pieces I created for my digital design class that I teach in the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication at The University of Oklahoma. The lesson was over typography and how typeface selection should not be arbitrary. Students were asked to create a minimalist book jacket where the type was the star. They were instructed to choose a typeface that evoked the emotion/personality of the book. They also needed to use two complimentary typefaces and to create some small graphic element with the pen tool that would enhance the type but not overshadow it. Color schemes were also to be minimal to further lend focus to the type. 

During a snow day that got us out of our day jobs, my buddy Zach and I did some abandoned urban exploration photography.

I created one of these illustrations as social media content for a project at work. People loved the illustration so I started making more for other friends who were getting married. I used their engagement photos for reference and freehanded a bit. 

BloodKnot is a fly fishing affinity brand that I have worked on with a colleague who is an experienced fisherman. He feels that fly fishing apparel on the market is very utilitarian and intended for the sport itself, and not expressing one’s love of the sport.

I've worked on a few different projects for The University of Oklahoma's Price College of Business. They have been expanding their Professional MBA program which is located in downtown Oklahoma City in the business and healthcare district rather than on the main Norman campus. They wanted to promote the campus' convenient city location and that while the program was not in Norman, it was not an online or certificate program. We created the "an OU degree in the Heart of OKC" tagline and featured a photo of the campus' downtown location. The billboard was later updated to feature the new Bloomberg ranking. I was also asked to create a t-shirt for program graduates. They had asked for something very collegiate looking.
